As an ex-patriot from Canada, I understand how foreigners can feel in Japan. Too often they become trapped by the common and typical experiences of what people who visit Japan should see. This leads them to miss some of the best parts of Japan, the true Japan. Even though I begin my life in Japan as someone who came to the Tohoku region knowing very little about it, it has become an integral part of what I love about Japan. From the small rural feel, the traditional scenery, the wonderful cuisine to the friendlessness of the people who call this place home, I want to share this wonderful and unique area of Japan to visitors and potential ex-pats. I guarantee that they will enjoy their stay in Tohoku and will always remember it.
